The stackable 7Xstool is cut straight from a tree trunk by an industrial robot with a chainsaw. This unconventional manufacturing process was developed by Tom Pawlofsky for creating the stool designed by himself and Tibor Weissmahr.
Thanks to the differences in bark, graining, and knots between the different trunks, every stool is unique. The ingenious arrangement of the saw paths enabled the two graduates from HfG Karlsruhe to achieve an almost waste-free production process.
The stool was named for the industrial robots seven axes of movement.
